The Mnisi people has been in this area before the first settlers arrived and lived predominantly of cattle farming and hunting. It is here that this very ambitious community has built this camp completely themselves and their pride in having achieved this, resonates through the friendly and helpful staff.

Although still a very poor community, this camp is one of the first successful business ventures via support of the local private sector. It has brought huge change in the lives of this community. Apart from the income and jobs The Wild Olive Tree Camp also contributes towards conservation and preserving ancient heritage and culture.
